Bern is a founding partner of Windspeed Ventures. Bern
currently serves as an advisor to the firm and has over 15 years
of experience as a development manager and programmer.
He was engineering manager for the Office
and Consumer Group at Avid Technology. Bern also
co-founded and served as vice president of engineering
at Accordance Corporation, which later merged with Software.com. Prior to Software.com, Bern was a development
manager in the R&D division of Siemens Nixdorf.
He started his career at the Institute for Research
in Information and Scholarship (IRIS) at Brown University.
There he developed Intermedia, a fully functional hypermedia
system used in university courses before the advent
of the web. He holds a BS in computer science from Brown
University.
